Prior to joining the Asphalt Institute (AI) in December of 2024, Reed was the Executive Director of the Asphalt Pavement Alliance (APA). Where he worked closely with national leaders in the industry to promote the quality and use of asphalt pavements in the United States. Before his time at the APA, Reed was hired at the Utah Asphalt Pavement Association (UAPA) in 2012 as the organization’s first Executive Director. Before his time in the asphalt industry, Reed lived and worked in Washington, D.C. as a Legislative Aide to Senator Orrin Hatch and as a Public Affairs Specialist to the Office of Public and International Affairs for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has a BA in Political Science from Brigham Young University and a JD from The George Washington University. Originally from the mountains of Colorado, Reed enjoys the outdoors, snowboarding, running, playing golf, and working in the yard. As a bit of a sports enthusiast his favorite teams, the Denver Broncos, BYU Football, the Washington Nationals, the Washington Capitals, and the Utah Jazz continually disappoint him. However, he finds great joy in raising three sons and a daughter with Syndi, his wife of twenty-three years.
