Speaker Bio
Eric's journey in the construction industry began with humble roots. At the age of 15, he spent his summers working as a laborer on his father’s bridge crew. In such situations, a father might choose to go easy on him or push him harder. For Eric, it was the latter. This demanding environment fostered a strong work ethic and provided him with hands-on experience in every facet of construction.
After high school, Eric attended Texas A&M University for three years before transferring to the University of Houston. There, he earned his Civil Engineering degree while balancing a full-time job and attending night classes.
In 1990, Eric joined Durwood Greene Construction Company, where he gained his first exposure to asphalt construction. Since then, his career has been deeply rooted in asphalt construction and production. Working out of the same office over the last 28 years, Eric has worked in leadership roles, including Vice President of Silva Contracting Company, General Manager of James Construction Group, and now as Vice President of Operations Support for Vulcan Materials and Construction Company.
For more than 12 years, Eric has been actively involved with TXAPA, contributing as a member of various committees, including serving as Chairman of the New Technology and Quality Paving Committee and the Specifications and Test Procedures Committee. He also served on the Board of Directors.
Eric and his wife, Monica, recently celebrated 44 years of marriage. They have one daughter, Stephanie.
Beyond his professional career, Eric enjoys running, playing golf, and dedicating his time to his local church, where he serves as an acting deacon.
