TXAPA is pleased to invite you to our sixth annual Asphalt Road-eo. For just $100 you can set up a table representing your company and job opportunities, but register soon. There are a limited number of tables available. 

This is a special year for the competition as it’s the first time since 2019 that we have been able to bring students back to TXAPA since the pandemic. To learn about the event, here’s an article written about the first ever Road-eo in 2017.

• We do not charge a registration fee to the students and do all we can to remove any roadblocks to participation.

• The sponsorship helps offset the cost of the event including food, student travel reimbursements, and materials shipping.

• Your company logo will be displayed prominently throughout the event, and you may set up a table at no additional charge.

The competition takes place on April 15 from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Table set up is at 7:00am.

There are ten teams consisting of four students each. Their task is to build a 20"x20"x2" slab of asphalt. All teams use binder and aggregates donated this year by TXAPA members Lone Star Paving and Texas Materials, A CRH Company.

Each team's slab will undergo testing at three stations. The teams rotate through these stations throughout the day. At any given time, you will be able to view skid resistance, rutting, and cracking tests in action. Each team will give a brief presentation to a panel of judges and answer questions about their choices for designing and building their slab.

By approximately 3:30 PM we will be ready to announce the winners! The winning team will receive a $2,000 scholarship each, second place receiving $1,000 each.

This is your chance to represent the asphalt pavement industry to the 40 student competitors representing teams of four from 10 universities in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. Past participants in the Road-eo have reported that coming to the TXAPA Campus in Buda helped them make the decision to pursue a career in heavy highway construction.
