Pravat Karki is the Asphalt Binder Section Director at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). He joined the TxDOT in January 2021 after working as a researcher at Texas A&M Transportation Institute from 2014 to 2020. He has a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and holds a PE license in the State of Texas. In his current role, Dr. Karki is responsible for implementing TxDOT's Asphalt Binder Quality Program, specifications, and test methods, providing technical support to other divisions and districts, managing asphalt binder laboratory operation, and representing TxDOT in AASHTO Technical Committees and subcommittees. In his previous role at TTI, he led/co-led research projects/tasks sponsored by both public agencies like TxDOT and FDOT and private entities like the Ontario Road Builders' Association.
